Nicholas Paul Claims Sixth Straight Pan American Sprint Gold

Gold again for T&T at the Pan American Elite Track Cycling Championships in Santiago, Chile. And who else could it be but the most dominant sprinter in the West, Nicholas Paul? Paul added Trinidad and Tobago’s fifth medal after taking the Men’s Sprint on Saturday.

Six straight Pan American Sprint golds!

Trinidad and Tobago cyclist Nicholas Paul delivered on expectations, capturing his third medal of the Pan American Elite Track Cycling Championships in Santiago, Chile. The Gasparillo native won gold in the Men’s Sprint final on day four.

Paul did it in the first two rides to defeat Colombia’s Cristian Ortega in Saturday’s final, adding to the gold he claimed in the keirin event on Thursday.

Njisane Phillip missed out on bronze after forcing a deciding third ride against Canadian Nick Wammes.

So far, Nicholas Paul has two gold medals, and Teniel Campbell has one gold from the Scratch event.

Akil Campbell brought home the bronze medal in the Scratch Race.

and the men’s team sprint trio of Zion Pulido, Kwesi Browne, and Nicholas Paul took bronze.

That makes three gold and two bronze medals for Team TTO at the Pan American Elite Track Cycling Championships, which end today, Sunday, in Santiago, Chile. Impressive.
