Nicholas Paul Tops Men’s Sprint Qualifying

Trinidad and Tobago’s Nicholas Paul surged to the top of the Men’s Sprint Qualifying round at the 2025 Elite Pan American Track Cycling Championships in Asunción, Paraguay, delivering an impressive time of 9.641 seconds.

Paul edged out Colombia’s Cristian David Ortega Fontavlo, who finished second with a time of 9.709 seconds. Canada’s Nick Wammes and fellow Trinidadian Njisane Phillip both clocked identical times of 9.849 seconds, placing third and fourth respectively.

James Hedgcock of Canada closely followed in fifth place, registering a time of 9.990 seconds, narrowly ahead of Kevin Santiago Quintero Chavarro from Colombia who came sixth with 10.006 seconds. Tyler Rorke from Canada and Lucas Oscar Vilar from Argentina rounded out the top eight qualifiers with times of 10.007 and 10.008 seconds respectively.

And Teneil Campbell copped bronze in the Women’s Elimination event.
