PM: Couva Children’s Hospital Fully Operational Within Weeks, Laptop Distribution Begins

The Couva Children’s Hospital will be fully operational in the coming weeks.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC made the announcement on Thursday at the Parliament Rotunda Gallery while delivering the feature address at UNICEF’s World Children’s Day Event.

She added that the development is part of the government’s continued effort to build a nation where every child can thrive.

“We will have that beginning work in December of this year, 2025. We will have that hospital operationalised, up and running, dedicated to paediatric and adult healthcare, standing as a national commitment to dignity in children’s health.”

The Prime Minister also noted that in keeping with her government’s mandate, laptop distribution for all students entering Secondary School has started.

“You will remember way back in my first incarnation as Prime Minister, I had promised that every single child would have a place in a Secondary School. We kept that promise then, and today I promise you that every child entering Secondary School will get a laptop. We have begun that distribution of laptops.”
