Following this year’s Eid celebrations, Deputy Speaker and Princes Town MP, Dr. Aiyna Ali, reflected on the occasion as a meaningful symbol of unity and shared respect across the nation’s diverse faith communities.
She praised the Members of Parliament for their attendance at various events, noting how their presence advanced the message of unity.
“One of the most inspiring aspects of this Ramadan was witnessing the spirit of unity across our nation. It was profoundly touching to see so many members of the government, regardless of faith, accept invitations to partake in iftar across the country and in their own constituencies. Many shared with me their excitement and expressed how happy they were to be invited and included in our religion and to learn about Islam.”
Dr. Ali noted that Eid promotes a national spirit of togetherness, standing as a testament to the country’s mutual respect among its faiths.
“These experiences fostered understanding, strengthened relationships, and reflects the true beauty of Trinidad and Tobago. And that’s our diversity, our harmony, and our mutual respect for one another.”
