World-renowned reggae artist Mark Myrie, best known as Buju Banton, has been forced to postpone his performance in Tobago over the Easter weekend.
At a Media Conference on Wednesday, the Tobago Festivals Commission informed that the postponement of Buju’s performance is due to unforeseen and unintended circumstances.
Buju, in a dialogue with organisers of the Rhythm and Soul Festival, requested compassion and understanding as a close member of his team faces a serious health matter. The reggae superstar also posted a video for his fans in Trinidad and Tobago.
“I trust and believe that your love and support, your admiration, has been overwhelming over the years and we plan to make it up to you. Nothing is more important and nothing is more vital than health, so right now I am in the throes fighting for a good friend’s life. So until then I see you soon.”
Arrangements for a rescheduled concert featuring Buju Banton in Tobago are forthcoming.
The Tobago Festivals Commission apologised to ticket holders looking forward to seeing Buju perform. They also announced the replacement artiste for the Rhythm and Soul Festival – Fusion on 20th April.
“God opened a door and today, I am pleased to announce the son of the legend Bob Marley, Stephen Marley, will be joining us for the Fusion event.”
Tobago Rhythm and Soul Festival takes place from 17th April to 20th April, with the sounds of Gospel, Jazz, Reggae, and Soca music. It includes international artistes such as Nigerian gospel singer, Sinach, international artistes Jon Secada and Brian McKnight, along with Soca star, Mical Teja, Kes the Band, and reggae stars Gramps Morgan, Wayne Wonder, and Singing Melody.
