There were major gains in crop and plant production in Tobago in 2025.
That’s according to an update from the Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment and Sustainable Development.
A release from the Division notes that over 360,000 plants across ornamentals, vegetable seedlings and orchard crops were grown while new crop trials were launched to strengthen local production and resilience.
In livestock development, the Division says growth was recorded across the island.
It adds that protecting plant health remained a priority while extension and outreach efforts were equally robust.
The Division says 3,756 field visits and 179 school visits were conducted.
Meanwhile, more than $630,000 was paid to 106 applicants through the Farmers’ Incentive Programme, and 98 new farmers were registered.
