The United National Congress has won the 2025 General Election.
UNC Political Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar arrived at the party headquarters in Chaguanas just before 11pm on Monday to large, jubilant crowds. Her arrival came after the PNM conceded defeat at Balisier House.
Standing with her party faithful, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar thanked and praised God for the victory in the General Election, saying, “When God says yes, nobody can say no.”
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar also thanked her coalition partners and supporters, saying they are the real heroes in this story.
“We, the people, have the real power in Trinidad and Tobago. We, the people, you are the people. You are the government. Not the fake elites. Not the financiers with all their money, but the real people of Trinbago who have toiled and toiled and kept faith that you deserve better.”
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said the UNC Coalition fought a clean campaign. She said the real work starts now, and they will focus on delivering on their promises.
The incoming Prime Minister promised that her party will serve all: “This victory is for the senior citizens to keep their pensions. This victory is for public servants to get their rightful salary increases. This victory is to reopen the Children’s Hospital. This victory is to reopen Petrotrin. This victory is to once again give laptops to children. This victory is to create over 50,000 jobs. The victory is yours.”
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar promised that no one will be left behind.
“When UNC wins, everybody wins. We will walk into government together. You will now have a Prime Minister who cares. A Prime Minister who loves you. A Prime Minister who will fight so we will all win together. We will work for you. You are the real bosses, and we are here to serve.”
