Between 6:30am and 9:30am on Wednesday 9th July 2025, a team of officers conducted an intelligence-led Cannabis Suppression Operation in the Tortuga area. The officers ventured approximately one mile into a mountainous, forested area where they uncovered two cannabis fields spanning roughly two lots of land, along with two narcotics camps.

During the operation, approximately 1,100 fully grown cannabis trees and two seedling beds were destroyed. The estimated street value of the destroyed cannabis is $1,100,000. Investigations are continuing by officers of the Southern Division.

Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro praised the officers for their hard work and tactical execution of the operation. He emphasised that the TTPS will continue to aggressively target illegal drug operations, sending a clear message to criminal elements that their activities will not be tolerated. The Commissioner also reassured citizens that the police remain resolute in their mission to create safer communities and uphold the rule of law.
