Police have destroyed over $1.3 million worth of cannabis during an operation in the North Central Division.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said between 6:30am and 9:30am on Wednesday, officers hiked nearly a mile into a mountainous, forested area in St. Joseph, uncovering three cannabis fields and two narcotics camps across four lots of land.
Over 1,390 fully grown cannabis trees and two seedling beds were destroyed. One man from St. Joseph was arrested at the scene, linked to 100 of the plants.
Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro, who was on site, praised the multi-unit team, calling the operation a major blow to the drug trade.
