4-H Fun Day Unites 300 Students For Sports And Fun In Preysal

The third annual 4-H Fun Day took place at Inshan Ali Park in Preysal, bringing together 14 schools from Caroni, with around 300 children participating.

The event celebrated camaraderie, sportsmanship, and healthy outdoor activity, giving students a chance to enjoy the sunshine while engaging in games and competitions.

Participants took part in a variety of activities, including cricket, musical hoop, sack races, computation races, and a flag competition for the march past.

One of the crowd favourites was “Tarzan and Jane”, a relay in which participants ran to a table to collect bananas, delivered them to their teammate, ate them, and raced to the finish line.

President of 4H Trinidad and Tobago Natasha Lee says the Head, Heart, Hands and Health meaning behind the organisation was on clear display at the Preysal venue.

Mrs Lee noted that every county in Trinidad and Tobago hosted signature 4-H events each year, and Caroni’s Fun Day had become a highlight, bringing children outside and encouraging both competition and collaboration.

The event also highlighted 4-H’s agricultural programs.

Students participated in a root crop garden project, where they planted, harvested, and processed crops as part of a year-long project.

Teachers received training, and planting materials were provided through the Ministry of Agriculture.

She said the program taught children how to preserve crops and use agro-processing techniques, giving them practical skills and a sense of responsibility.
