Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says her Government will continue taking a tough stance against crime even after the State of Emergency ends on September 17.
In a Facebook post, she described the six-month SoE as highly successful, revealing that 5,802 people were arrested and 3,552 were charged, a charge rate of just over 61 per cent.
PM Persad-Bissessar said crime has fallen across all police divisions and warned criminals that harsh measures will continue against those who threaten law-abiding citizens. She stressed that ending the SoE does not mean easing the fight against crime, reminding offenders that detention facilities at Teteron and MSP remain available for those who continue criminal activities
