UNC Celebrates 36th Anniversary Days After Regaining Power

The United National Congress is celebrating its 36th anniversary, just two days after winning the 2025 General Election.

Political Leader of the UNC, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, said this marks a momentous occasion in the history of Trinidad and Tobago and the United National Congress.

Via a media release, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar noted that over three decades ago, a group of committed patriots from across the length and breadth of T&T met at the Aranguez Savannah, where they gave late founding father Basdeo Panday the mandate to continue the noble fight for democracy, leading to the formation of the UNC on April 30th 1989.

She mentioned that only two days ago the UNC secured one of the most historic, comprehensive, landslide victories in the recently concluded April 28th 2025 General Election.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar paid thanks to the party’s great forbears, whose patriotism, selflessness, and dedication have brought the UNC to this great juncture.

She said the wonderful coincidence of regaining government as the party marks its 36th anniversary fills their hearts with gratitude, humility, and renewed purpose.
