WASA Working To Restore Water Amid Adverse Weather

Several surface water treatment plants throughout Trinidad and Tobago have been affected by the adverse weather over the last few days.

According to the Corporate Communications Manager at the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA), Daniel Plenty, customers in Toco, Balandra, Matura, parts of Arima, Lopinot and St Joseph may experience a disruption in their water supply due to high turbidity and clogged screens caused by flooded rivers.

Mr. Plenty is assuring customers that the Authority is engaged in efforts to have the situation rectified. “The Authority is currently assessing the conditions and will be working to have those facilities returned to service as soon as conditions clear, and will be able to perform the necessary clean-up works to restart those plants and to have the supply restored to customers.”

He also indicated that certain parts of Tobago, including Hope, John Dial, Bacolet, Scarborough, Mason Hall, Moriah, and Upper Golden Lane, have also been affected.

He also confirmed that service at various plants throughout Trinidad and Tobago has already been restored.
