Committee Appointed To Investigate Death Of Six Year Old Jasher Francois

A committee has been appointed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of six-year-old Jasher Francois at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital.

According to a media release by the Ministry of Health on Monday, the committee comprises four experts in the areas of Paediatrics, Paediatric Intensive Care, Nursing, Quality Assurance and Law.

Their mandate is to review the case and determine whether the proper standard of care, clinical judgement, and professional responsibilities were upheld.

The committee has been instructed to submit their report by August 20th, 2025. The order came from Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC.

Jasher Francois died at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital on August 7th. He was taken to the hospital on August 6th, three days after developing a persistent cough.
