CAPE High Achiever Dies In Beetham Highway Crash

What was meant to be a moment of celebration for the Persad family of Aranguez turned into heartbreak on Tuesday night.

This, as their relative, 19-year-old Kavish Persad, was killed in a car crash along the Beetham Highway, just one day after receiving his CAPE results.

Reports state that Persad lost control of his car while trying to overtake another vehicle. He crashed into the car before running off the highway and slamming into the Beetham water main. His car then launched into the air before landing in the nearby Laventille River.

Earlier that day, his father, Pundit Maniedeo Persad, took to social media to congratulate Kavish on his CAPE results. The post revealed Kavish had obtained five grade ones and one grade two in his Upper 6 CAPE examinations.
