PM Persad-Bissessar Congratulates TKR On Fifth CPL Title: Victory A Source Of National Pride

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) on their recent triumph in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 competition.

In a statement, the Prime Minister applauded the players, coaches, managers, and all others associated with the franchise, acknowledging their fifth victory in the 13-year history of the annual regional tournament.

“The triumph is a testament to the cricketers’ skill and dedication, along with competent leadership and effective coaching. TKR’s repeated accomplishments illustrate what is possible through steadfast purpose and diligence.”

Highlighting the significance of the CPL, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar noted that the competition has become a much-anticipated and celebrated annual event on the Caribbean calendar, valued for both its intense on-field play and its accompanying cultural festivities that reflect the region’s unique richness and diversity.

The Prime Minister also pointed out the timely nature of the victory, occurring just before Republic Day and amid recent international successes by athletes Keshorn Walcott and Jereem Richards.

“It is noteworthy that TKR’s victory has taken place on the virtual eve of Trinidad and Tobago’s Republic Day and in the glow of the international successes of athletes Keshorn Walcott and Jereem Richards. Their respective glories have all enriched and inspired our nation.”
