Former Attorney General, Anand Ramlogan, has welcomed the appointment of Justice Ronnie Boodoosingh as the Chief Justice.
In a statement, Mr. Ramlogan praised Justice Boodoosingh’s wealth of knowledge, experience, and unimpeachable credentials, noting his unique background in both criminal and civil jurisdictions.
The Former Attorney General said he admires Justice Boodoosingh’s quiet sense of integrity, dignity, and purpose, which he said will inspire renewed public confidence in the administration of justice.
He also commended the Acting President, Wade Mark for taking decisive action, warning that any prolonged acting appointment could have undermined the Judiciary’s stability and independence.
Mr. Ramlogan dismissed criticisms of insufficient consultation, citing constitutional precedent and urgency in national matters.
