From physical innovation to digital transformation, the Association of Real Estate Agents of Trinidad and Tobago (AREA) celebrated its 35th anniversary on October 30th, further solidifying its contribution to the evolution of the local real estate industry.
President of the Association, Sally Singh, explained that AREA had its defining moment in 2012 when it was established by an Act of Parliament, becoming the legally recognised governing body for real estate professionals in T&T.
“This achievement not only affirmed our credibility but also solidified our role as a cornerstone of professionalism and integrity in the industry. Over the years, AREA has actively engaged in training and certification programmes, public education campaigns, and legislative advocacy.”
She also described the event as both a tribute to AREA’s legacy and a springboard for future growth, highlighting its journey from a small group of professionals to a legally recognised governing body committed to integrity and progress.
“AREA continues to lead the charge in advocating for the revision and proclamation of the Real Estate Bill in Parliament. This is a crucial step in ensuring that our profession is governed by clear, modern and enforceable standards.”
Demonstrating its intention to pursue forward-looking initiatives aimed at modernising operations and deepening public engagement, Vice President Devon Fergusson unveiled AREA’s newly renovated website, developed to improve member services and enhance digital interactions.
“The website marks a major milestone in modernising AREA’s online presence, blending functionalities, transparencies, and accessibility. And here’s a little spoiler: more features are on the way. You will see teasers rolled out periodically as we continue to enhance your experience.”
AREA has also partnered with UWI-ROYTEC, offering certification courses and a Diploma in Real Estate Brokerage, aimed at developing the professional competencies of practitioners in the local real estate industry.
