Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training Prakash Persad is calling on graduated students of the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago to dare to dream and change the world around them.
He was speaking at the 2025 Graduation Ceremony for COSTAATT at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya this weekend.
Minister Persad told the graduating class that the future of Trinidad and Tobago depends on the talent resilience and innovation of our people.
“That is why our work continues to prioritise widened access to tertiary education, strengthened accreditation, and quality assurance systems, and aligning skills development with the demands of the national and global economies.”
Minister Persad, himself a Professor Emeritus noted that his Ministry is consulting with student bodies from all tertiary education institutions to take their career needs into account.
“One of the first sort of acts that I performed when I came to this office was to meet the scholars to hear their concerns. And I continue to meet the students on a one-on-one basis to get their concerns. And it is important that we listen to students. The results of the aforementioned consultative interactions will be inputs to the Ministry’s review of the policies of online learning, the use of artificial intelligence, scholarships, bursaries, and GATE, among other policies.”
