Over $3.4 Million Worth Of Cannabis Seized In Western Division

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) seized over 31 kilogrammes of cannabis during an intelligence-led anti-crime operation conducted in the Western Division earlier today.

Between 6am and 2pm on Wednesday 3rd December, 2025, officers of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), including the Jungle Ops Team, with support from the National Operations Task Force (N.O.T.F.) and members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF), conducted a coordinated exercise targeting criminal activity in forested areas off the Upper La Horquette Valley Road, Glencoe.

The operation, which was spearheaded by Snr Supt Edwards, coordinated by Supt Etienne, and supervised by Supt Veronique, ASP Lynch and ASP Morales, resulted in extensive searches on both the eastern and western sides of the valley, approximately two miles into the forested terrain.

At the first location on the eastern side, officers discovered a blue barrel containing:

• 7 packages of marijuana weighing 13.80 kilogrammes

• 30 rounds of 12-gauge cartridges

• 13 rounds of 7.62 ammunition

• 220 rounds of 5.56 ammunition

• 1 extended magazine

• 1 Glock speed loader

• 2 holsters

• 1 rifle sling

Further searches on the western side of the area uncovered another barrel containing 17.04 kilogrammes of compressed cannabis.

The total weight of the seized narcotics is 31.20 kilogrammes, with an estimated street value of $3,424,106.40.

Investigations are ongoing as the TTPS continues to pursue all leads linked to this seizure.
