Minister Sobers Confirms Dragon Gas Deal Still On The Table

The Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Sean Sobers, has confirmed that business is continuing as usual, and the Dragon Gas Deal is still on the table.

Speaking with the media on Friday afternoon, he assured reporters that this country’s commercial arrangement has not been hampered by any cross talks, as the government is ensuring that the energy commodity future of Trinidad and Tobago remains intact.

“The Dragon gas deal is on the table, there’s nothing to suggest that it isn’t. The licence is in place. As it pertains to the Dragon gas field, which is managed by Shell, discussions with respect to Venezuela and the exploration of that field, we have a particular arrangement in place where that is concerned. As you may very well know when you’re dealing with oil and gas matters there are a lot of NDAs that you have to go through, not everything that we will be able to discuss with the public. Suffice to say the government in collaboration with Shell, and the US and Venezuela, we’re on top of the issue.”
