The Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training issued letters of appointment to the newly appointed Chairman and Governors of the Board of the MIC Institute of Technology on Tuesday 9th December 2025 at Education Towers, Port of Spain. The newly constituted Board will serve for a period of three years.
MIC Institute of Technology, formerly the Metal Industries Company Limited, is an agency of the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training. Over the decades, MIC-IT has provided manufacturing support through the design and production of high-quality tools, moulds, precision machining and manufacturing engineering services. The Institute has since evolved into a unique entity, operating as both a commercial manufacturing facility and a tertiary-level training institution.
Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, Senator Prakash Persad, congratulated the newly appointed Directors and encouraged them to practise collective responsibility and collegiality.
“I extend my sincere congratulations to the appointed Directors of the MIC Institute of Technology Board. This appointment reflects a strong vote of confidence in your leadership, expertise and commitment to advancing tertiary education and skills training. I am confident that your contributions will further strengthen the Institute’s governance, innovation and strategic direction, as we continue to equip our citizens with the knowledge and skills required for national development. I wish you every success in this important role,” Minister Persad stated.
Also in attendance at the ceremony were Mr. Hansen Narinesingh, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, and Mr. Kurt Meyer, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training.
