Government Delivers 52 Restored Vehicles To TTPS

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago has handed over 12 additional restored police vehicles to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), bringing the total to 52 vehicles delivered within a three-week period.

Today’s handover took place at the Vehicle Maintenance Company of Trinidad and Tobago (VMCOTT), Beetham Estate, Laventille, and was led by the Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, .

Completed before Christmas, this achievement fulfils the mandate set by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, for the repair of 50 vehicles, with the initiative resulting in the restoration of a total of 52 vehicles.

The vehicles, some of which had been out of service for several months to a couple of years, have now been returned to full operational readiness.

In attendance at today’s handover were Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Senator Eli Zakour, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Junior Benjamin; VMCOTT Chairman Amrall Mohammed; Acting Chief Executive Officer Brian Aliendre; Board Member Dr. Khemraj Nanhu; Operations Manager Robert Sampson Vialva; and Workshop Manager, Allister Martin.

In his remarks, Minister Alexander commended VMCOTT for its swift and efficient work in restoring the vehicles and conveyed the Prime Minister’s sincere appreciation to VMCOTT, the TTPS, and all stakeholders involved in completing the initiative.
