TTPS: No Cause For Alarm As Precautionary Steps Continue

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service continues to advise the public about precautionary measures it has undertaken amidst unrest in Venezuela.

A release from the Commissioner of Police advises the public that Sackville Street East, Port of Spain, between Edward Street and St. Vincent Street, remains closed to vehicular traffic until further notice.

Motorists are now being asked to use alternative routes.

On Saturday, the TTPS advised that its actions are part of its responsibility to anticipate potential risks, maintain public confidence, and ensure the continued safety and security of the country during periods of uncertainty.

Several streets were observed to be cordoned off in the capital, with barriers and a heightened armed presence.

Police officials emphasise that the measures are precautionary and form part of the Service’s ongoing commitment to national security.

The TTPS said there is no cause for public alarm, noting that the steps taken are intended to ensure readiness, stability, and continuity of service should circumstances change.

Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro said the situation remains under constant review and that the public will be updated as necessary.
