Police Seize And Destroy Over $7 Million Worth Of Cannabis

More than $7 million worth of cannabis has been seized and destroyed, as police intensified anti-crime operations across the country.

Two suspects were arrested, a firearm recovered, and large quantities of cannabis seized during several intelligence-led exercises on Thursday.

In Couva, officers discovered a loaded revolver during a search along Martha Street.

Meanwhile, Task Force officers uncovered nearly two kilogrammes of cannabis at an abandoned structure in D’Abadie.

In the South-Western Division, police intercepted a vehicle in the Cap-de-Ville area, seizing over 26 kilogrammes of cannabis valued at $1 million. Two men were arrested.

And in Biche, officers dismantled two cannabis grow-houses containing 60,000 fully grown plants, valued at $6 million. The plants and equipment were destroyed.

Investigations into all matters are continuing.
