West Indies Lose Opening T20I Against Afghanistan

The West Indies faced Afghanistan in the first of three T20 Internationals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first, posting 181 for 3 in their 20 overs. Ibrahim Zadran top-scoring with 87 not out and Darwish Rasooli contributing 84. In reply, the West Indies fell short, finishing on 143 for 9, losing by 38 runs.

Matthew Forde was the pick of the Windies bowlers, claiming 2/51 runs in his four overs.

Debutant Quintin Sampson top-scored for the Men in Maroon with 30 off 24 deliveries. Bowling for Afghanistan, Ziaur Rahman took 3/36.

The second match is on Wednesday January 21st. First ball is at 10:30am Eastern Caribbean or 9:30am Jamaica time.
