NWRHA Hosts Health Fair On Brian Lara Promenade

World Mental Health Month is observed throughout October, featuring World Mental Health Day on October 10.

Speaking to TTT News, at the North West Regional Health Authority’s recent health fair, on the Brian Lara Promenade, Psychiatrist, Dr. Cherish Baptiste, noted the importance of access to mental healthcare for all.

“October the 10th is world mental health day, it is recognised globally, and having good mental Health is a human right you’re entitled to have good mental health, so it’s not something for a certain type of person it is for you it’s for the person looking at this right now, so the NWRHA has embraced healthy body, healthy mind, healthy communities, because a community is really just a collection of people, and your body can’t function without your mind and your mind can’t function without your body, it’s very much a reciprocal relationship and we are here today to encourage that.”

Many took advantage of its offerings, as they received free medical advice, nutritional tips, prostate cancer screenings and various tests.

“This really is a venture of the RHA to bring health to the people, to make it much more accessible, all you really need today is just to bring yourself and come and have a chat with us. All the services available here today are all free, after having had a chat with us if you do require additional help, additional intervention, we can refer you on to our out patients clinics as required.”
