Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence Dominic Smith has announced a partnership with OpenAI, the global leader in artificial intelligence research.
Minister Smith said this makes Trinidad and Tobago one of six countries globally to join this programme.
“OpenAI is globally recognised for its mission to ensure the advanced intelligence benefits to all of humanity, most notably through its creation of ChatGPT, which is familiar to most of us, a tool that has redefined productivity, which is very important, and problem-solving worldwide.”
Minister Smith described the collaboration as a pivotal milestone in the government’s official policy framework.
“What does this mean for Trinidad and Tobago? It means that we have not only been taking steps to advance national progress. We are not satisfied with being left on the sideline of a new digital era. We will be pioneers in the space. We will be participants in the space, and by these collaborations and through these multilateral engagements, we will be seen and continue to be seen as the leaders in technology both in Trinidad and as far as these partnerships go in the Western Hemisphere.”
