Port Authority Confirms T&T Spirit Withdrawn From Service, To Undergo Technical Assessment

The Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago has confirmed that the passenger ferry, the T&T Spirit, is currently berthed and undergoing a technical assessment at the Port of Spain Ferry Terminal.

The T&T Spirit experienced mechanical difficulties after debris was drawn into the engines during its voyage to the Port of Scarborough on Sunday, February 1st, 2026. As a precautionary measure, the vessel was withdrawn from service and subsequently returned to Port of Spain last evening.

The Port Authority, in coordination with NIDCO, said it is maintaining contingency arrangements to support inter-island ferry operations and to accommodate affected passengers, including the adjustment of sailings where necessary. Passenger welfare and customer service support remain in place at both ferry terminals.

The Port Authority apologises to all passengers affected by the disruption and thanks the travelling public for its patience as these assessments and operational adjustments continue. Further updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
