With a string of accidents affecting vessels dedicated to inter-island transport, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Farley Augustine, has assured citizens that the THA, along with the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure and other stakeholders, is working to address the issues in the shortest time possible.
In a social media post, the Chief Secretary acknowledged the incidents involving the newly acquired MV Blue Wave Harmony and the T&T Spirit, along with the frustration and concern of citizens who rely on the inter-island ferries.
“NIDCO’s technical teams are working around the clock to assess rather the impact and to ensure our sea bridge remains reliable. One of the most disappointing consequences of these logistical hurdles is a challenge to hosting the Medium Band Finals in Tobago. So discussions are well on the way between Pan Trinbago, NIDCO, the Port and so forth, and I’m sure you will hear from Pan Trinbago soon.”
Mr. Augustine also highlighted the economic impact on citizens and appealed for patience as the issues are being addressed.
“I am therefore asking for your grace and your patience as we in the THA continue to push and push and push and work along with the Ministry of Works in Trinidad and Minister John, who has been very kind to us, to get these repairs done expeditiously so we can return to normalcy.”
With the 2026 National Panorama Finals Medium Bands expected to be hosted in Tobago on February 8th, the Chief Secretary assured that the relevant agencies will provide updates following full assessments.
