Carnival 2026 will be a year Angelo Gore will never forget.
The eight-year-old’s performance alongside Soca King Machel Montano during his ‘Monday Madness’ concert and at the Flava Village on Carnival Friday has forever changed his life.
The young star came into the spotlight after he sang Machel’s song ‘Encore’ in front of massive crowds at both events.
Speaking to TTT News, he said he was one of the contenders in Montano’s competition, where young people were given a chance to showcase their talent. He said he was surprised to win the competition.
“Well, I didn’t know, right. I only said, hi. And mummy only started to scream and I was like, ‘what happened?’ So, I just come upstairs. She said, grandma said, don’t tell him. Don’t tell him until mummy get the call how I had to sing with Machel. I just start jumping up and jumping up and start bawling and screaming. All kind of things.”
Angelo reflected on the excitement on stage.
“Flava was a big crowd. Big, big, big crowd. Plenty people was there. So, I wasn’t nervous at all. I was just like, stay brave. I was telling my mind, stay brave. Stay strong. I just start singing. And then after, I just go on. I just start singing. All kind of things. And then putting that vibe to it.”
After his first performance, Angelo said life took a different twist.
“They said, look, this superstar here. And I didn’t want to take them on because they like to make noise and all kind of things. So, I just walk outside and then people start stopping me, all kind of things, saying, ‘you’re the boy from Machel?’ I said, ‘Yeah, why?’ And all kind of things.”
Angelo says his inspiration came from his parents, and it is his dream to be a singer and entertainer as an adult. He also urged young people to never give up on their dreams.
