Dr. Sue Ann Barratt, Head of the Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS) at The UWI, St. Augustine, joins us to discuss International Women’s Day 2026 and the importance of investing in Caribbean women. In this interview, she examines how research, advocacy, and public engagement can move gender equity beyond symbolism toward meaningful reform. Dr. Barratt highlights the role of The UWI and IGDS in shaping national policy, addressing issues such as gender-based violence, economic inequality, and leadership barriers, and promoting inclusive participation in the push for justice, rights, and opportunities for all women and girls across Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.
