Pakistani Cricketer Fakhar Zaman Banned For Two Matches Over Ball Tampering

Pakistani cricketer Fakhar Zaman has been handed a two-match ban in the Pakistan Super League after being found guilty of ball tampering.

Fakhar was charged by the Pakistan Cricket Board after umpires penalised his team, the Lahore Qalandars, during Sunday’s PSL clash with the Karachi Kings.

Officials ruled that Fakhar had unfairly changed the condition of the ball, awarding the Kings five penalty runs heading into the final over, with Karachi needing fourteen to win.

A second and final hearing was held on Monday, with the PCB confirming the suspension on Tuesday. Fakhar denied the charge and contested the hearing, but match referee Roshan Mahanama upheld the decision after reviewing all evidence.

The experienced opener, who has represented Pakistan in 3 Tests, 92 ODIs, and 120 T20 Internationals, now has 48 hours to appeal.

Under cricket’s laws, players are prohibited from altering the condition of the ball in any way, other than shining it.
