Nanan Calls For Greater Enforcement To Protect Scarlet Ibis

CEO of Nanan’s Caroni Bird Sanctuary Tours, Allister Nanan is calling for greater enforcement of the laws in place to protect the Scarlet Ibis.

In an interview with TTT News at the Winston Nanan Caroni Bird Sanctuary on Friday, he explained that the national bird is at risk of being killed by poachers who visit the swamp.

While he commended the laws already in place, he warned that without proper enforcement the Scarlet Ibis are endangered.

He pointed out that the company, through guided tours, continues to do its part to educate tourists and citizens of this country’s biodiversity.

Mr. Nanan is also proposing legislation to ban styrofoam, as a means of addressing pollution of the swamp.
