Women’s Super League Arsenal Thrash Leicester

England Women’s football captain Leah Williamson has signed a new two-year contract with Arsenal, continuing her senior career to the only club she has ever played for.

The news comes after Williamson came off the bench to score in Arsenal’s 7-nil thrashing of Leicester on Wednesday, a result that keeps the Women’s Super League title race alive. The Gunners are now eight points behind Manchester City, who have two games in hand.

Williamson has spent her entire career at Arsenal, captaining England to back-to-back Women’s Euros titles. A knee injury limited her to just four league appearances this season, but the club say her leadership has remained vital.

She becomes the fourth Arsenal player to sign a new deal, as the Gunners build a squad aiming to dominate European football for years to come.
