From the protective services to entrepreneurship, students at Aranguez T.I.A. Primary School were given a glimpse into their professional futures as the school hosted its annual career day on Wednesday.
According to Principal Feisal Mustapha, the event, held in collaboration with the School Support Services Division (SSSD), prepares students for the world of work by exposing them to a wide range of career opportunities.
“At the end of the day, they have a long time, but they can begin dreaming. They can begin having a vision.”
Principal Mustapha noted that, as the job market evolves, the career day also aims to spotlight entrepreneurial opportunities and professions within emerging technological fields, alongside traditional careers.
“People from the protective services, people representing the health services, people from the service industry, we have NFM doing a presentation, we have SporTT. We try to get a broad variety of career options that might be available, hopefully to spark some interest, some lifelong interest for the kids.”
The principal added that this was the first time the school hosted a career day for all students together, marking a significant milestone as they aim to broaden opportunities for every student—something he said will be the format going forward.
“In the past we did not have a whole school career day. Basically, we would do it at different levels: at the infant level, junior, senior level, and those are the areas that we would focus, according to their needs. However, we decided, you know what, doing it at the whole school level is something worth trying.”
According to Mr. Mustapha, this year’s career day forms part of a wider calendar of events scheduled to unfold throughout the academic year, including an expanded career day, Foreign Language Day, and several other initiatives aimed at enriching students’ learning experiences while preparing them for the world.
