Officers of the Eastern Division arrested three persons and seized two firearms, ammunition and a quantity of narcotics during an anti-crime exercise conducted earlier today. Between 2:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on 5th August, 2026, officers of the Rio Claro Criminal Investigations Department, Biche Police Station and the Canine Branch conducted an Operation R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. exercise in the Rio Claro District.
Acting on intelligence, the team conducted extensive enquiries and surveillanceat various locations and searched six houses in accordance with the Emergency Powers Act. During the operation, a 43-year-old man of Guayaguayare Road, Rio Claro, was
arrested for possession of five rounds of 12-gauge cartridges. Additionally, two brothers, aged 25 and 28, also of Guayaguayare Road, Rio Claro, were arrested for possession of a Taurus 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine and a homemade shotgun. They were also charged with possession of 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 14 rounds of 12-gauge cartridges, two spent 12-gauge casings, and 280 grammes of cannabis.
The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Ettiene, Supt. Beharry, ASP Russell, ASP Lee Tang, Insp. Harper and Insp. Kistow, and supervised by Sgt. Dickson.
