The nation’s top young spellers were celebrated at the Mindstar National Spelling Bee and Tech Park 2026 Grand Finals, held on May 13th at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts.
Students from across Trinidad and Tobago showcased exceptional skill and confidence as they tackled challenging words in a competition marked by discipline, determination and camaraderie.
At the Primary level, in the Standard One category, Sebastien Hosein of the Homeschool Association of Trinidad and Tobago took first place, followed by Zidane Ramsook of Canaan Presbyterian, and Esabella Fleming of St Mary’s Mucurapo Girls’ RC.
In the Standards Two and Three division, Devin Aberdeen of St Martin de Porres RC secured first place, with Abigail Coutou of Santa Flora Government second, and Rebeccah Lutchman of Canaan Presbyterian third.
For Standards Four and Five, Matthew Dodoll of Canaan Presbyterian placed first, Samara Manickchand of Windermere Private School second, and Alayna Supersad of Monkey Town Government third.
At the Secondary level, in Forms One and Two, Khylie Charles of Bishop’s High School Tobago claimed first place, followed by Jenika George of Holy Faith Convent Penal, and Ariel Rampath of Naparima Girls’ High School.
In the Forms Three and Four category, Calipha Harewood of St Mary’s College secured first place, Arisa Rajan of Naparima Girls’ High School second, and Mickea Kanhai of Holy Faith Convent Penal third.
And in Forms Five and Six, Molique Noel of Point Fortin East Secondary took top honours, with Nathanael Sonylal of Vishnu Boys’ Hindu College in second, and Sirhansel Marcelle of Scarborough Secondary in third.
Organisers say the competition continues to grow as a leading educational platform, fostering academic excellence, confidence and leadership among the nation’s youth.
