Holy Name Convent Launches Independent Probe Amid Public Concerns

The Board of Management of Holy Name Convent Port of Spain has announced the establishment of an Independent Review Committee following growing public concerns and experiences shared in recent days.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Board said the committee will operate independently of both the Board and the school’s administration and will oversee a confidential review process.

Following the statement issued on May 12, 2026, the Board of Management of Holy Name Convent Port of Spain wishes to provide an update regarding the independent process being established in response to the concerns and experiences that have been publicly shared in recent days.

The Board advises that an Independent Review Committee, separate from both the Board and the school administration, has now been formally established.

The Board recognises the significance of the concerns and experiences being shared publicly and acknowledges the strong emotions surrounding this matter. The wellbeing, dignity, and holistic development of students remain of paramount importance, and the Board is committed to ensuring that this process is handled responsibly, fairly, independently, and with due sensitivity.

The Independent Review Committee comprises respected professionals drawn from a range of relevant disciplines, including psychology, industrial relations, compliance, governance, and institutional leadership. The Committee will be chaired by Mr. Vincent Pereira.

In addition, Lucent Research has been engaged as an independent third party to support the secure collection and management of information and submissions received as part of this process.

The review process will provide an opportunity for relevant parties to confidentially share concerns, experiences, and any information they consider material to the process. Details regarding the confidential submission process and related procedures will be communicated once finalised.

The findings and outcome of this independent process will guide any further steps deemed necessary.
