Trinidad and Tobago’s profile at Concacaf has been subdued in recent years, both on and off the field, but on Tuesday the return of prominence was evident at the 2026 Caribbean Cup draw in Miami, Florida.
TTT News anchor Mariah Ramharack was front and centre as host of the Group Draw for the Concacaf Caribbean Cup.
The fourth edition of the regional tournament will feature 10 clubs and takes place from August to December 2026.
TT Premier Football League champions Defence Force FC and runners-up Club Sando FC will feature in the tournament, both playing out of Group ‘A’, with Prison Service FC still in with a chance of qualifying for one of the groups if they successfully negotiate the Caribbean Football Union Club Shield.
Defence Force FC and Club Sando FC were drawn in Group ‘A’ along with Haitian outfit Violette AC, SV Broki of Suriname and the yet-to-be-determined CFU Club Shield runners-up.
Group ‘B’ comprises the ever-present Cibao FC of the Dominican Republic and their countrymen, Salcedo FC, as well as Jamaican duo Cavalier FC and Portmore United FC. The CFU Club Shield champions will complete the group.
Also with a major role at the draw was former Trinidad and Tobago captain Densill Theobald, who said he is eager to see the talent on display during the early stages.
T&T’s Prison Service FC will get their chance to qualify when the Club Shield is contested from July 23rd to August 2nd in a straight knockout tournament.
