Knicks Extend Historic Winning Streak In Finals Opener

The New York Knicks have turned on the style in the opening game of the NBA Finals. They came from fourteen points down to beat the San Antonio Spurs 105 to 95 and extend a winning streak for the record books.

The Knicks looked in trouble, trailing by 14 points in the third quarter on the road in San Antonio.
But Jalen Brunson had other ideas.

The guard poured in 13 of his 30 points in the final quarter, including a stretch of 11 unanswered points in the last two minutes that broke the game open.

It’s a twelfth straight win for New York, matching the second-best post-season streak in NBA history, a record set by these very Spurs back in 1999, the last time the two met in the Finals.

Karl-Anthony Towns, with 18 points and 12 rebounds says the comebacks are fueled by the city itself.

For San Antonio, it was a quiet night from Victor Wembanyama. The Frenchman topped the Spurs’ scoring with 21, but made just six of twenty-one shots from the field.

New York now chasing a first championship since 1973.

Game two is in San Antonio on Friday, before the series shifts to Madison Square Garden on Monday.
