The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard was called into action on Wednesday following reports of a woman in distress in waters near Scotland Bay.
A Coast Guard interceptor was dispatched to the area, where officers located the adult female aboard a pirogue nearby. First aid was administered at the scene, and the woman regained consciousness.
She was taken to Coast Guard Headquarters for further assessment, where her condition continued to improve. She was later handed over to ambulance personnel and transported to the St. James Health Facility for additional medical care.
The Coast Guard is reminding members of the public to remain vigilant when participating in activities on or near the country’s waterways and to observe all recommended maritime safety measures.
