Minister of Defence Wayne Sturge has confirmed that this year’s Independence Day parade route remains as outlined by Chief of Defence Staff Commodore Darren Polo, dismissing misinformation circulating on social media.
In his social media post on Friday, the Minister stressed that reports suggesting the parade would begin near Memorial Park and proceed along Charlotte Street, Chancery Lane, or Keate Street are inaccurate.
“The parade is being held opposite President’s House on the northern side of the Queen’s Park Savannah. When the parade exits, it would go along Queen’s Park East, turn right until it meets NAPA. And then that’s the top of Frederick Street. It would then proceed in a southerly direction along Frederick Street. Then across at Park Street in a westerly direction until it meets Green Corner. From Green Corner, down Tragarete Road until Roxy’s Roundabout. And thereafter, down Western Main Road, St James, and then up Long Circular Road.”
