Three men are in police custody following an investigation into an alleged scam that saw a company tricked out of more than $40,000 worth of sausages.
According to police, a company representative visited the Erin Police Station around 8:30 p.m. on August 27, 2026, to report the incident. The representative said that earlier that day, around 10 a.m., a person claiming to be a supermarket employee placed an order for 100 cases of Chicken Franks (400 grams), valued at $24,000, and 61 cases of Chicken Franks (Jumbo), valued at $17,019 bringing the total order to $41,019.
Around midday, a flatbed transport truck arrived at the company’s compound, where the items were loaded before the driver left with the goods.
Company officials later contacted the supermarket the individual claimed to represent, seeking to verify the purchase order. However, the supermarket confirmed that no such order had been placed.
In response, a joint operation was launched involving the South Western Division’s Criminal Investigations Department, Task Force, and Gang Unit.
The investigation led to the arrest of two men from Freeport, aged 20 and 24, along with a 31-year-old man from Caparo.
The stolen goods were recovered and returned to the company.
