Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Sean Sobers arrived in Venezuela on Thursday for high-level talks aimed at strengthening relations between both countries.
Minister Sobers met with and presented official diplomatic gifts to Venezuela’s Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Félix Plasencia, during the ongoing discussions between the two countries.
The Trinidad and Tobago delegation, which includes Permanent Secretary Randall Karim, selected gifts that showcase elements of the country’s national identity and cultural heritage.
Among the items presented was a painting featuring the Magnificent Seven, the historic collection of landmark buildings located around the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain. The artwork serves as a representation of Trinidad and Tobago’s architectural heritage and the country’s distinctive cultural landscape.
The delegation also presented locally produced artisan chocolates, highlighting Trinidad and Tobago’s reputation for high-quality cocoa and its growing value as part of the country’s agricultural and cultural identity.
The diplomatic exchange goes beyond the presentation of gifts, reflecting an effort to build stronger people-to-people and cultural connections between the two neighbouring countries.
The engagements in Caracas form part of continued diplomatic discussions between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela, with both sides seeking to maintain dialogue and deepen bilateral relations.
Through the presentation of items rooted in Trinidad and Tobago’s heritage, the delegation also used the opportunity to promote the country’s architecture, creative industries and cocoa products on the international stage.
