The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services (MPSDFS) is deepening its partnership with the Office of the Ombudsman of Trinidad and Tobago, as part of efforts to ensure the timely resolution of referred matters and improve the quality of social service delivery across the country.
Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, the Honourable Vandana Mohit, led a team of key Ministry officials in a strategic meeting with Ombudsman of Trinidad and Tobago Mrs. Jacqueline Sampson Miguel and her senior technical team. The meeting focused on reviewing outstanding complaints, assessing current progress, and establishing actionable steps to expedite resolutions.
Minister Mohit engaged directly with the Ombudsman on pending matters, using the meeting as an opportunity to explore avenues for greater collaboration between the two institutions.
Discussions also centred on the need to standardise workflows, enhance case tracking, and forge a joint follow-up framework, as both offices look to work more closely together to facilitate timely responses to outstanding cases.
The Ministry says the engagement forms part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen internal systems and processes, ensuring that social services are delivered in a manner that is responsive, transparent, efficient and people-centred.
Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Vera Deonanan-Balkaran, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), MPSDFS; Mr. Ryan Ramcharan, Permanent Secretary, MPSDFS; Mr. Ashmead Mohammed, Advisor to the Minister; and Senator Dr. Natalie Chaitan-Maharaj, Parliamentary Secretary, MPSDFS, along with members of the Ombudsman’s technical team.
