Two men are dead following a shootout with police along Golden Grove Road in southwest Tobago.
Senior Superintendent Rodhill Kirk said police officers were conducting covert operations and trailing the suspects in a vehicle around 6pm on Thursday.
As officers attempted to approach the vehicle, shots were fired, and police returned fire. Both suspects were killed, while one police officer was injured and taken to the Scarborough General Hospital for treatment.
Senior Superintendent Kirk said the scene was still being processed and that the names of the deceased and the injured officer would not be released at this time.
