TTMA Welcomes Budget’s Focus On Manufacturing, Export Growth And Economic Diversification

The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association sees its mission reflected in the roadmap outlined in Budget 2027.

TTMA President Emil Ramkissoon says the Association’s work supports the drive to strengthen local production, widen global markets, and chart a more resilient future for Trinidad and Tobago.

“In 2025, TTMA pioneered the first trade mission on the seas, taking 25 companies across six markets in one journey. It demonstrated that we can think differently about how we take our manufacturers into the world by reducing logistical barriers while reaching multiple markets efficiently. This initiative has now become part of our trade mission calendar annually, and I look forward to welcome you on board in 2027. This mission is vital for SMEs to spread their wings, especially when in doubt.”

Mr. Ramkissoon said the drive toward economic diversification is a positive step, but stressed that meaningful progress will require collaboration among all sectors to achieve lasting results.

“Ladies and gentlemen, diversification is not something that government can achieve alone. Neither can the private sector. It requires government, manufacturers, financial institutions, and business support organizations moving in the same direction. The progress reported by the government over the past year, including its target of an additional US $2 billion in non-energy exports.”

TTMA President Emil Ramkissoon said the increased focus on manufacturing and tourism reflects a deliberate shift in national priorities, providing encouraging evidence that Trinidad and Tobago’s development agenda is moving in the right direction.
