Panorama 2025: Medium Band Katzenjammers’ Historic Hat Trick

The Panorama Medium Conventional Band title and trophy will remain in Tobago for a third consecutive year.

This, after Black Rock’s Katzenjammers Steel Orchestra recorded a historic hat trick to capture their third Medium Band title with a win at Parade Grounds in Bacolet.

Sunday’s competition fused with elements of theatrics as ten steelbands took the audience on a musical journey.

All eyes were on reigning champions, Katzenjammers, who were determined to secure a third consecutive win for Tobago, and they achieved it. Kersh Ramsey’s arrangement of the Mighty Sparrow’s ‘Lying Excuses’ kept the band on top from the Preliminaries straight to the Finals where they accumulated 281 points.

For another consecutive year, Pan Elders Steel Orchestra followed closely behind Katzenjammers. Scoring 279 points, the band took the second spot with their rendition of Lord Nelson’s ‘Mih Lover.’ Their Arranger, another Tobagonian, Ojay Richards.

There was a two-way tie for third place between NGC Couva Joylanders and Pamberi Steel Orchestra. Pamberi Steel Orchestra also received the trophy for the Best Dressed Band.

NGC La Brea Nightingales were fifth with 272.5 points, while there was a tie for sixth place with Courts Sound Specialists of Laventille and Arima Angel Harps, both scoring 269 points.
