Akeal Hosein To Lead West Indies In Landmark T20I Series Against Nepal

Cricket West Indies has announced that spinner Akeal Hosein will captain a fresh-faced 15-member squad for a landmark T20 International series against Nepal, set to take place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium from September 27th to 30th.

The series marks a major milestone for Hosein, a key figure in the T20I set-up, who now leads a youthful 15-member squad featuring six potential debutants. With senior players rested, selectors are using this opportunity outside the ICC’s Future Tours Programme to blood new talent ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Rayon Griffith will serve as head coach, with Ottis Gibson joining as a fast-bowling consultant.

CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, said, “This series is another step in broadening West Indies cricket. It helps us build a squad that’s adaptable, resilient, and ready for global challenges.”
